Medical Supervisor

Katy Brooks was born and raised in Northern California and has always been happiest surrounded by animals. After graduating from Colgate University with a BA in Spanish she decided to pursue her passion for animal welfare and earned her DVM from UC Davis
Veterinary School in 2007. She practiced small animal medicine for 10 years while living in Northern California, enjoying the challenge of the job, and loving her canine and feline patients.

In 2016, Katy and her family moved to Bothell, WA and she made the decision to stay home with her three young children, although she truly missed her daily interactions with dogs and cats. In 2021 she visited San Juan Island for the first time, immediately fell in love with the
island, and 6 months later moved here with her entire family. Since then, all her children
have started school, and she is thrilled to be working again on behalf of animals and the
community at APS-FH. She is excited to give the shelter animals the best care possible and
to work to keep the pets in the community healthy and in their homes, where they are
happiest.

When she’s not working at APS, Katy can be found hiking, playing with her kids, or snuggled
up on the couch with a good book.
